A type of manufactured home that is designed to be transported to a permanent location. The term "mobile home" is often used interchangeably with "manufactured home". The key difference is the year of construction. According to HUD, factory-built homes constructed before 1976 are called mobile homes. Factory-built homes that were built after June 15, 1976, are called manufactured homes.
